The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah O. Animashaun, has commenced the removal of water hyacinth from its waterways with a view to enhance the transportation, fishing and other use of the waters.
Epe Local Government is known as an ancient town in Lagos State, famous for fishing, which over the years has been the predominant source of income for its residents. However, for some time now, the inhabitants have been lamenting about the menace caused by the water hyacinth which has negatively affected their source of daily income.
However, the Executive Chairman who is renowned for her compassionate, responsive and effective antecedent has commenced the removal of the water hyacinth to enable hitch-free and profitable fishing business for the traders, removal of boat traffic and general recreational usage on the waterways.
