The Executive Chairman of Epe LG, Hon. Princess Surah O. Animashaun FHTI, had the honour to grace the International Museum Day commemoration hosted by The Lagos State University Centre for Museums and African Heritage (LASUCEMAH) as a Guest Speaker. The momentous event was held on Saturday, 18th May, 2024 at LASU Museum, Agege, Lagos.
Hon. Princess Surah, the Chairman of Epe LG was joined by Associate Professor Sanni Habib Abiodun, Acting Director, Directorate of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, Lagos State University, Mr. Gbaja Kolawole Patrick, Museum Curator/Deputy Director, LASUCEMAH, Prof. Animashaun Maruf S. Director, LASUCEMAH and Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University.
It was a great privilege, as the Executive Chairman, Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah O. Animashaun FHTI, joined the rest of the world in celebration of the International Museum Day as she was able to extensively elaborate on the crucial role Museums play in the aspect of cultural exchange and development which was in accordance with the theme of this year’s event: “Unlocking Knowledge: Museums for Education and Research”
Speaking to the audience, she emphasized the significance of Museum creation because they serve as dynamic educational hubs that foster curiosity, creativity and critical thinking. Museums also contribute to research as they provide a reliable and informative platform for exploring and disseminating new days.
The Lagos State University Centre for Museums and African Heritage (LASUCEMAH) have impressively played a pivotal role in collection of cultural artefacts that have been fundamentally used for preservation, conservation, exhibition, display, research and documentation with the provision of adequate space and functional facilities and she personally accord them great commendation.
She conclusively implored the audience the consciously explore the wealth of knowledge Museums have to offer and, together, build a more informed and inclusive world.
Hon. Princess Surah O. Animashaun FHTI, the Executive Chairman of Epe LG, received an award of Excellent for her outstanding contribution to Lagos State devise learning. The award was presented to her by the Vice Chancellor, Lagos State University, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello mni NPOM.
The Chairman also has the opportunity to sightsee the monumental artefacts that were on display in the Museum as she was taken around by Mr. Gbaja Kolawole Patrick, Museum Curator/ Deputy Director, LASUCEMAH. and she admit her admiration about what she was able to see because the artefacts had wonderful, informative and captivating facts attached to them
