In Commemoration of the annual World Hypertension Week, the Chairman of Epe LG, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun FHTI, has kickstarted a free HBP check up.
The free HPB outreach began on May 17, 2024 -a day set aside globally as World Hypertension Day.
Hypertension is a leading risk factor for premature death and disability. Untreated hypertension can lead to serious medical complications such as stroke, heart attack, heart failure, kidney damage, and other debilitating health issues.
In the Chairman’s message as to the aim of the free Blood Pressure Check, the Chairman informed that hypertension is a silent killer and this multifaceted humanitarian efforts towards meeting Sustainable Development Goal target 3.4 – in a bid to reduce premature mortality due to noncommunicable diseases.
She therefore urged residents to confront the silent killer by being motivated to check blood pressure accurately, take steps to control it and guarantee oneself longevity.
The Chairman said the free HBP continues in all the primary health centers in Epe Local Government and enjoined residents to key into this vital mission to create a healthier, happier, and hypertension-free world for generations to come.
