The raining season is here and flooding is upon us due to indiscriminate dumping of refuse that has resulted in the blockage of the drainage at Adeyanju Street.
Being humane and proactive which are outstanding hallmarks of a good leader, the Chairman of Epe LGA, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun FHTI, has yet again embarked on another round of clearing drainages to prevent flooding and possibilities of contracting water-borne diseases.
Recall that the Chairman, before the rainy season, had cleared all drainges within Epe LGA as a proactive measure to prevent flooding. However, despite this drastic action, the Chairman received several complaints from residents about flash flooding that has taken over the roads and people’s homes with the recent downpour. This flooding was caused by deliberate blocking of flood channels and indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
However, as a compassionate leader, the Chairman immediately ordered the clearing of the right and left drainages at Adeyanju Street to ameliorate the suffering of residents and bring them relief.
A team was quickly drafted to the site for an on-site inspection to include the LGA Chairman ably represented by Hon. Odupe Fuad, Supervisor for Environment and the Leader of the House, Hon. Kareem Pitan.
To forestall future occurrence of flooding and displacement, the Chairman has urged residents to take up the responsibility of sensitizing households on the dangers of indiscriminate dumping of refuse and blockage of drainage channels that causes flooding and stagnant water.
She said on her part, the government will not fail to be alive to its responsibilities in the LGA regardless of whether it’s convenient or not.
