Earlier yesterday, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon Princess Surah Animashaun FHTI, held a stakeholders meeting on Cholera outbreak, Security, Upcoming protest/rally and gave an accountability report of the projects executed since her emergence.
According to the Chairman, she said since the confirmation of the Cholera Outbreak on June 15, 2024, by the state government, there’s been an increase in reported cases demanding attention and concerted efforts. She said we must act swiftly to improve water and environmental sanitation, improve hygiene and increase awareness on dangers of open defecation.
The Chairman said her administration has put in place measures at the LGA to include:
i. Heightened cholera alert/ awareness/ sanitation
ii. Clearing of drainages and wastes/refuse
iii. Provision of chlorine to community with public water
iv. Distribution of ORS to the school Children.
v. Distribution of waste bags to all the stakeholders at the meeting.
She also reiterate the preventive measures to kick out cholera which includes: Drinking clean and potable water, washing hands with soap and water during and after preparing food and seeking early medical care when one notices signs of diarrhea.
The Chairman also talked about the upcoming protest/rally by youths in August against economic conditions of living in Nigeria. She however urged them to exercise patience as the economic policies of President Tinubu is beginning to yield fruits with the gradual drop in prices of commodities and the newly approved minimum wage that is expected to boost sales.
She pleaded to our youths not to be part of those with the ulterior motive to destroy our Lagos out of sheer jealousy of the tremendous development it has recorded till date.
Princess Surah also talked about the security which she emphatically appealed for cooperation with security agencies to ensure the safety and security of our community, streets and homes from theft, robbery and burgling. She said everyone should be security conscious.
It is on this note that the Chairman urged everyone to act now with every sense of patriotism, commitment, compassion, understanding and determination that will ensure a safe, sane, habitable, secured and healthy society.
Hon. Surah also frowned at the traders that are inflating market prices in Epe LGA while admonishing them to considerably review their prices for affordability.
There was an avenue for an interactive session which gave some of the audience the opportunity to express their expectations and observations many which had positive reviews. The Executive Chairman gave her word on a relentless commitment towards more developmental initiatives that will improve the socio-economic well-being of the community.
In conclusion, the Chairman gave a comprehensive accountability report of the projects executed since her emergence which was greeted with rapturous applause from the visibly impressed audience.
