Epe Local Government, led by Executive Chairman, Hon. (Princess) Surah Animashaun FHTI, has completed 26 critical drainage projects aimed at reducing flooding in the area.
The initiative is part of her administration’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the community from environmental hazards caused by poorly maintained drainage systems.
Upon assuming office, Hon. (Princess) Surah Animashaun FHTI made a firm commitment to tackle the challenge posed by dilapidated dranages across the local government.
Recognizing the risk of flooding, she spearheaded the rehabilitation, reconstruction, and clearing of major drainage channels, ensuring that the community is better prepared for heavy rains and potential flooding.
The Chairman highlighted the significance of these projects, emphasizing that the reconstructed drainages will play a crucial role in preventing future floods and protecting the livelihoods of Epe residents.
The drainages that have been repaired, rehabilitated and cleared include the following: Germany Street, Uraka Street, Alausa Street, Olalekan Kila Street, Salabiu Street, Ayetutu Street, Olatunji Ojikutu Street, Adeyanju Street, Ojewunmi Street, Kadijatu Lawal Street, Ayotunde Seriki Street, Dauda Buhari Street, Lagbade Street.
Others are: Adewale Logun Street, Animashaun Street, Jagbojagbo Street, Mustapha Street, Peleyeju Street, Fidipote Street, Itaosugbo Street, Adeyemi Apena Street, Epe Bridge, Waterworks Street, S. Rahmon Street, Olundegun Street, Animashaun Close and Marina Street.
In her address, Hon. Animashaun urged residents to take ownership of the drainage systems by refraining from dumping refuse in them, which could obstruct the flow of water and negate the progress made.
She reassured the community that her administration remains committed to implementing measures that will prevent flooding and promote environmental safety.
Her leadership has garnered widespread praise for her proactive and humane approach to governance. Her slogan, #PSOA Beyond 2025#, along with motto, #Igbega Ibile Epe, Ajumose Ni# – meaning “The progress of Epe is a collective effort” – reflects her vision for sustainable development driven by collaboration between the people and the government.
