The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. (Princess) Surah Animashaun FHTI, on Tuesday, 3rd September received a delegation of Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) led by its General Manager, Mr. Afolabi Solebo.
The visit was borne out of the Agency’s unwavering determination to enhance consumer protection services in Epe, as part of its ongoing efforts to expand reach and ensure that the rights of consumers in Lagos State are no longer infringed but adequately protected.
Mr. Afolabi Solebo in his address emphatically highlighted the importance of having a LASCOPA Annex Office situated within the Epe Local Government Secretariat as the move would bring consumer protection services closer to Epe residents, enabling them to lodge complaints and seek redress seamlessly without the hassle of traveling down to the Agency’s head office in Ikeja.
“The establishment of an Annex Office here in Epe will significantly reduce the distance consumers have to cover to access our services. This will also ensure that issues such as product safety, unfair trade practices, and consumer rights violations are promptly addressed, thereby fostering a safer and fairer market place in Epe.” Mr. Solebo further stated in his words.
Hon. (Princess) Surah O. Animashaun FHTI, embraced the proposal while expressing her readiness to support the initiative. She acknowledged the fundamental role that LASCOPA plays in safeguarding consumer interests. She also stated that the presence of an Annex office in Epe will bring about a positive development for the community.
“We are fully in support of this initiative as it aligns with our commitment to improve the welfare of our people. The closeness of LASCOPA to us will empower our consumers and enhance the business environment in Epe.” Hon. Animashaun stated.
The visit emphatically validates the Lagos State Government’s unwavering dedication to extending consumer protection services across all local government in the state, ensuring that every resident has access to the resources and support needed to protect their right against violations as consumers to enable them enjoy a friendly environment.
