Hon. Abiodun Tobun, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly and the Executive Chairman of Epe LGA, Hon. (Princess) Surah Animashaun FHTI have demonstrated exceptional leadership by taking proactive steps in resolving the over 2-months electricity outage in Epe Local Government.
The meeting was held at Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources conference room on Thursday, September 5th, 2024.
Dignitaries present at the stakeholders meeting were: Hon. Abiodun Tobun, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Special Adviser to Mr. Governor on Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. Abiola Kosegbe, General Manager, Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, Mr. Afolabi Solebo, NYCN Coordinator, Comr. Moibi Ibrahim and the officials of Ikeja Electric.
Hon. Abiodun Tobun, voiced concerns over the frequent and prolonged power outages, which have left Epe residents without electricity for extended periods. This has disrupted their daily activities, particularly businesses that rely heavily on electricity.
Hon. (Princess) Surah also expressed her dissatisfaction with what she perceived as Ikeja Electric’s indifferent attitude towards resolving the lingering power supply issues. Despite numerous complaints and petitions from the community, Ikeja Electric had not taken adequate steps to address the situation, leading to a lack of trust in the company’s ability to deliver reliable service.
“The unreliable power supply has adversely affected the livelihoods of Epe resident economically, especially with Artisans, welders, tailors, and a host of vocational traders who depends heavily on electricity are unable to meet their client demands,” the Chairman added.
The following resolutions were reached:
- The power supply will be restored one week.
- The prepaid meter will be made available for those that intend to purchase.
The recent move for a resolution is a testament to the tireless efforts and unwavering commitment of Hon. Abiodun Tobun and the Executive Chairman of Epe LGA.
Their effectiveness and dedication to finding solutions to the electricity outage has restored hope and trust in the community. Hon. Tobun and the Executive Chairman of Epe LGA have shown that they are willing to go extra mile to ensure the well-being of their people demonstrating their exemplary leadership.
The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu deserves great commendations for his impeccable leadership role with the setting up of a committee to look into the epileptic power situation in Epe which is expected to yield a positive outcome.
