As a forward-thinking, goal-oriented Chairman, Hon. (Princess) Surah O. Animashaun FHTI, the Executive Chairman of Epe LGA has broken the grounds for the construction of a building for museum and library centers which is a unique initiative in local government administration.
The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. (Princess) Surah O. Animashaun FHTI, disclosed while performing the groundbreaking exercise, that creating a museum within Epe LGA is crucial for safeguarding and preserving our cultural heritage and displaying our rich cultural history to the outside world. The museum will serve as a repository of our collective and shared memories, containing relics, exhibits, and interactions that tell the story of our community’s evolution and monumental development.
According to her: “By opening up Epe for tourism through museum, we can spread our unique and distinct cultural heritage with people from different places and walks of life, encouraging mutual understanding and interaction. This will not just boost residents’ pride but will also help the local economy by increasing tourism revenue.
Additionally, the museum will serve as valuable educational tool for our children, giving them hands-on learning opportunities that will bring history to life. Students can develop a stronger sense of belonging and deepen their cultural roots by exploring the museum’s artefacts.
She added that, this, in turn, will motivate a new generation of leaders, innovators and influencers who are ready to mould the future of our society to attain a global pedestal.
In her words: “Setting up a contemporary library is essential for 21st century education. The library will provide an extensive range and collection of digital and print resources, such as e-books, online databases, and multimedia materials. This will allow students and researches to access a vast amount of information, conduct research, and enhance critical thinking skills. In addition, the library will offer a collaborative learning space, furnished with state-of-the-art technology, facilitating group work, idea sharing and discovery of innovative concepts.
Furthermore, Princess Surah stated that by establishing a museum and setting up a contemporary library, we can create a vibrant cultural and intellectual center that enriches the experiences of both our locals and tourists alike. These establishments will not just protect and preserve our history but also foster a culture of learning, creativity, and advancement that will propel our LGA forward.
