In a concerted effort to combat Tuberculosis (TB), the Epe Local Government under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Princess) Surah O. Animashaun FHTI, is organizing a free health screening exercise on November 6th and 7th, 2024 at the Epe Local Government Secretariat. This initiative is part of the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services to the community.
During the two-day event, residents can benefit from the following free services:
- Blood Pressure Check
- Blood Sugar Screening
- Free Chest X-ray
- Free TB Screening
The Epe Local Government is dedicated to promoting awareness and education about TB, ensuring early detection and treatment. This joint action against TB demonstrates the government’s proactive approach to public health issues.
TB remains a significant health concern globally, with over 33% of TB deaths occurring in the African Region. The disease is curable and preventable, but its spread can be challenging due to factors like multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB).
Notably, the Lagos State First Lady, Dr, (Mrs) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has launched an initiative to eliminate TB, appointing the Epe Local Government Chairman as a TB Champion and Ambassador.
Residents of Epe are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to get screened and learn more about TB prevention. By working together, we can create a healthier community.
Signed
Yusuff Olawale Temitayo
Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman
