Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun Inaugurates Task Force on Routine Immunization, Personally Administers Polio Vaccine to Newborns

In her characteristic style of hands-on leadership and people-centered governance, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI, has once again demonstrated her unwavering commitment to the health and wellbeing of her people as she inaugurated the Epe Local Government Task Force on Routine Immunization.

The high-profile event, held at the Council Secretariat, witnessed the presence of key stakeholders in the health sector, including the State Coordinator for the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Chinenye Okafor, representatives from UNICEF, AFENET, security agencies, and respected community leaders, all united in a shared mission to strengthen Epe’s frontline in the fight against polio and other preventable childhood diseases.

In her inspiring address, Princess Surah reaffirmed her administration’s dedication to quality healthcare delivery and preventive medicine, noting that “every child in Epe deserves a healthy start to life, and immunization remains one of the surest ways to secure that future.”

The event reached a touching and symbolic moment when the Chairman proceeded to the Epe Maternity Centre, where she personally immunized two newborn babies with the Polio vaccine, blessing their families with cash gifts and baby items to encourage other mothers to embrace full immunization schedules for their children.

Not one to stop at ceremony, the Chairman also visited the Ajagannabe Ward, where she boosted the morale of the hardworking immunization teams and interacted warmly with nursing mothers who trooped out in large numbers to have their children protected under her watch. The atmosphere was charged with excitement and appreciation as mothers hailed the Chairman for her compassion, accessibility, and passion for community health.

This initiative forms part of Princess Surah Animashaun’s broader vision to make Epe Local Government a model of health excellence and community-driven governance, ensuring that no child is left behind in the journey toward a polio-free society.

With the new Task Force fully inaugurated and motivated, Epe stands ready, not just to sustain progress, but to set the pace in Lagos State’s ongoing effort to achieve total eradication of polio and vaccine-preventable diseases.
