Epe Local Government, one of the local government areas in Lagos State, Nigeria is known for its historic significance and strategic location – bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the south as well as the Lekki-Epe Expressway, a major transportation artery, running through Epe and connecting it to other South-western states.
The economy of Epe is diverse, with Fishing, Agriculture, and Trading playing significant roles in the local economy.
Epe, the fish basket of Lagos State, is beautifully endowed with dense mangroves, trails, hills, resort and ancient monuments. Recently, it is been recognised and referred to as the new horizon for tourism and investment in Lagos State.
Epe has experienced tremendous growth and development under the direction of the First Female Local Government chairman to be elected in the region; Hon (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun whose objectives are grounded around creating meaningful impact for all, promoting the rich, untold history and heritage of Epe Town and putting a spotlight on the community as a melting pot of peace and tranquillity.
All of these can be seen in the considerable strides being made in the areas of Education, Healthcare, Security, Human development and empowerment, Infrastructure – to name a few.
With plans to leverage on the touristic potentials of the region through public and private investor partnerships which will in turn create a ripple effect of job opportunities and by extension, an increase in IGR both at the local and state level – the end goal is to embark on sustainable urban development initiatives that will trigger the aesthetic transformation of the community and create a competitive advantage that not only positions Epe as the destination of preference but also produces significant impact for all its residents
